Men of Oak Grove: (Updated – Oct 7, 2025)
God is good, graceful and great!!! Below is a short recap of some of the men activities on-going:
A heartfelt thank you to all who attended the “Eighth No More Excuses section and Men’s Breakfast” on last Saturday. We had a strong turnout of 23 men, with meaningful and engaging discussions and a breakfast that truly hit the spot. For transparency: the total breakfast cost was approximately $500, generously sponsored by Charles Rascoe and myself. We also received $175 in donations to help offset the expense—thank you for your support!
Some special Request(s):
A Message from OGBC Health Ministry. Please consider taking part in a 5K Walk sponsored by DNT Foundation. The American Kidney Fund is one of several supporting sponsors. The event will take place on Saturday, October 11 at Jones Point Park in Alexandria, VA. The purpose of the walk is to raise funds for Cancer Research and Education, as well as to sponsor graduating seniors in the DMV with a $1K Scholarship toward their education. The walk is also in recognition of a former DC Firefighter Charles T. Coates who lost his life to Prostate Cancer. The link to register is: https://app.aplos.com/aws/events/2025_dnt_foundation_5k. Donations are also allowed.
Secondly, the Church has requested the Brotherhood Fellowship Ministry to assist with clean-up after Community Day on Sunday, October 19th. The Community event is expected to conclude around 3:00 PM and we need approximately 10 to 15 men to assist with clean-up.
What other Men’s Ministry are doing:
On October 6, the Baptist General Convention of Virginia (BGCVA) held their Monthly Zoom meeting. Four main items were discussed. 1) Importance of early prostate screenings 2) The need to minister to Single Fathers. If you would like copy of Single Father Ministering, please advise and I will forward the copy of the presentation. 3) Men’s participation in NAACP 4) Urging men to research Virginia candidates/issues and VOTE this November.
This coming Saturday, 10/18/25 (corrected date), the Northern Virginia Baptist Association Men’s Ministry will meet via zoom. I plan to attend and will share any relevant updates. Please advise if you would like to attend and I will provide the Zoom Link.
Our next meeting will be October 25th. Decision on Zoom or In-person will be made by next Monday.
Thank you for your continued commitment and service.
No More Hiding behind the Past, No More Holding Back, No More Weak Leadership, No More Going through the Motion, No More Compromising your integrity, No More Sifting through the Rubble, No More Half Stepping, No More Standing on the Sidelines
