Reverend Aaron James Sr. currently serves as interim Senior Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He has served as Senior Pastor of Risen Life Christian Church and the historic, First Bryan Baptist Church, founded in 1788. Both are located in Savannah, Georgia.
During his tenure in Savannah, he was endorsed by Van R. Johnson, Mayor of Savannah for his non-profit work with Ascend Health where he was the Palliative Care and Advanced Hospice Chaplain/Spiritual Care Director.
Before moving to Georgia, Reverend James served as Senior Pastor of Second Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, Syracuse, NY and Associate Minister of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Rochester, NY which is where he is from.
James graduated from Robert’s Wesleyan College, Rochester, NY with a Bachelors in Business Administration and received a Master of Divinity from Faith International University and Seminary. He is a fully licensed and ordained Minister and senior Pastor.
Pastor James has a demonstrated history of working in the religious institutions industry where he has demonstrated his management skills with Nonprofit Organizations, Theology, Gospel, Discipleship, and Pastoral Counseling.
His desire is to lead the Oak Grove Baptist Church in saving as many souls as possible for Christ and to make the church’s presence known in the community and beyond. With God’s help, He would like to establish it as not only a place for worship but a place for community, family counseling and well-being. His ultimate goal is to be able to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ as far as possible with the church being the catalyst.
Finally, his objective includes developing and maintaining a loving, peaceful, family atmosphere within the body of the church.
Pastor James is married to 1st Lady Sara James. They share seven children. He loves cooking, grilling & spending time outdoors but most of all he loves spending time with his family.
